I need to remove some members from my shared folders, but I don't seem to be the owner.

I have discontinued a business relationship with a few people and would now like to unshare some of my folders in Dropbox.  However, I don't seem to be able to do that, and what's worse, one of the ex-associates seems to be the OWNER of a folder in my account!

How do I fix this?

Mike.

Follow the steps outlined in this help article.

That's certainly possible. That would mean that either they created the folder and invited you to it, in which case it would appear in your account with them as the owner, or you originally created the folder and invited them to it, then later made them the owner.

In either case you'll be able to leave the shared folder, but you wouldn't be able to remove the owner from the folder. They would retain their copy along with anything in the folder.

OK, since the folder(s) are empty, it might make sense for me to simply delete my account and re-create it.

I was able to remove the non-owner accounts from the folders, though.  Thanks for that.

So, deleting my account is the only way to get these people out of my project?

You could just leave the folder as Rich said and then delete the folders from your account instead.

Deleting the account would loose any bonus space etc. you have.
