Is there an option to ignore a file or folder from syncing to my Dropbox account?

Hi,

I use dropbox on multiple devices but predominantly on a Macbook Pro. I traditionally keep all my files and folders within the Dropbox folder and allow all data to sync up to dropbox. Is there a way to stop a folder (nested under the dropbox top folder) from uploading to dropbox. I realise I can just move the folder out of the toplevel folder but I preferably dont want to do this.

Thanks

    Hi again, Joel!

That should be the case here; a file or folder will need to finish syncing first, for you to be able to change the syncing conditions.

Let me know if that's not what you see on your end.

Hi there, Joel Tobias, welcome to our Community!

You can set a file or folder in your Dropbox folder to be ignored and not sync to your Dropbox account.

To do that, you can follow the steps in this article.

I hope this helps, but if you have any questions, let me know.

    Hi,

Thanks I needed to update my install to File Provider which I have now done and the option to "Do Not Sync" is now available.

However I have now moved a folder into the dropbox and it automatically begins to sync but there is no "Do Not Sync Option" option on this folder.

Do I have to allow it to sync befoe I get the option ?
