I've unsynced some folders via selective sync, but they're still showing in my local Dropbox folder.
In an attempt to clear space on the local hard drive, I've "opted to hide some folders" according to the Selective Sync tab in Dropbox preferences. However, that folder is still downloaded to my local hard drive and is located in the parent Dropbox folder. At this point, how should I remove it safely without disturbing the online version of the folder?

If Selective Sync has been activated you should not see them locally - so I would check before deleting anything that its fully updated and selective sync is set up.
After that you could test a file or two and see if they also delete online or not just to be safe.
