Why are my files showing both on my desktop and my local Dropbox folder?
Device: PC
Operating System/Browser (if using the web): Windows 11
Dropbox App Version (if using the app):
I just deleted the Dropbox App
Syncing Status:
Status was up to date with hundreds of sync conflicts.
Question or Issue
When I open Windows Explorer, Dropbox files now show are on desktop as well as in dropbox folder? I deleted hundreds of sync conflicts. What a mess. Is there a way to not have them appear on the desktop?

Hi jpape, thanks for reporting this on our forum.
When saying your files are saved both on your desktop and your local Dropbox folder, I’m guessing you’re referring to the main Desktop folder of your Windows device. Correct?
To have a better idea of what’s happening exactly, can you send over a few screenshots of what you see on your end (in case you haven’t deleted all conflicted files at this point)?
Finally, when did this start happening precisely? Did you take any actions at all on your Dropbox app (like enabling computer backup, for example), right before the issue occurred?
Give me a nudge once you have more details.
