Why can't I share a folder on my account?

I open Dropbox, select share for one folder, write an email and it say "The sharing could not be completed" but nothing about why.

It's a simple folder only with Word docs with pictures in with food recipes, so how do I get it to work?

The email address I want to share with, I've never written to before and the first time I tried to share, it seemed to report an error regarding the email address, so could that be why?

    Hi thg82, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    Is it possible that your sharing has been temporarily paused as mentioned in this article?

    Have you previously tried to share anything on your account that could match one of the reasons stated in that article?

    This will help me to assist further!

    I have newer shared something from Dropbox before, but as I write, as I share the first time the folder today, it say something fail about the mailadress I write.

    Just adding in some context for future viewers of this thread. If you encounter this same problem and have never shared anything previously, have a quick look at our Acceptable Use Policy to ensure you're in compliance. 

    This is general advice and not specifically related to OP's case, which I did not handle.
