Finding it impossible to earn space from successful referrals

Dear Dropbox,

The last few times that I have referred a friend to Dropbox by directly emailing the link that I originally obtained from Dropbox, they have installed the app and acknowledged their email address, but nothing has appeared on my referrals page and no space has been released.

Could it be that I emailed the link directly, which is what I used to do, rather than messaging them through the referrals page? (Direct emailing used to work.)

I am happy to send the most recent friend email address direct to Dropbox (rather than publish their address on a public forum) so that the issue can be investigated and hopefully corrected?

All the best,    Greg

Hey GregP1 - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Did you take a look at your referrals page to see if you can find them listed there?

Also note that you can only earn up to 16 GB through referrals.

In any case, let me know what you find and we'll take it from there, Greg.

    Hi Walter.

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes - I did check my referrals page. My early referrals are there, but not the recent one. I'm only up to a total of 6.25Gb. I talked my latest referral through the installation and verification on the phone, but still nothing appeared...

    All the best,    Greg

I see, thanks for checking that for me, Greg. Would it be OK if I reached out via email to have a further look internally?

They're installing Dropbox on a unique computer, or their phone? Unless it's changed recently, mobile devices don't count for referrals. It needs to be installed on a computer that has never had Dropbox installed on it before.

    Hi Rich,

Thanks for posting a reply. Sorry if that was unclear - what I meant was that I had a phone conversation with the person to whom I sent the referral link, and I guided them through the process of downloading the installation file (to their laptop), running it and verifying their email address.

    Cheers,   Greg
