I had 25 GB of space but now it looks like I only have 2 GB
Hi Dropbox community,
I’m posting here as I got a very strange email telling me that I was 254% (or close to that number) over my storage limit. I found this odd but when I went to go check my Dropbox account instead of finding my 25GB space I suddenly had 2GB… then when logging in again I was told I had 5GB on my account.
I didn’t get many answers online but I did find out whilst trying to make sense of this that I now have to pay Dropbox in order to access any kind of support (and given my storage was removed with no warning or info I’m sure you can imagine I’m not keen to start giving Dropbox my hard earned cash, especially as I didn’t know holding support hostage and only if you’re paying Dropbox was legal before today) so 3 two factor verifications and multiple sign-ins here I am.
Has this happened to anyone else? I haven’t been abusing the referral system which seems to be the only reason other suggested this might be happening so I’d appreciate any help anyone is able to give me.

Dropbox Staff
Good day to you Nzilani,
In regards to your claim that you have had 25GB space that suddenly went down to 5GB, May I know if you obtained the 20 GB as a promotion other than the referral you earn from friend invitations? As , referral bonuses are deemed permanent and does not have any expiration , so it could be that the 20 GB you have had must be coming from promotions that has a certain expiration , usually 1 year . To be able to check on the total bonus space you earned from referrals, you can click this link : https://www.dropbox.com/account/referrals and here is a sample screenshot for your reference :
Hope this helps. :)
