I'm trying to upload files via the desktop app, but I'm being told there's not enough space.
I have been on Dropbox for years.
In the old days, they had onboarding "tasks" you could perform to get extra free space.
I did some of those. So my limits are?/show as different from a typical basic/free plan.
But the application is currently limiting me to an arbitrary space that is neither my listed (in the lower left hand account space field) available space, nor the 2G limit of a standard free account.
My desire is to have someone help me understand my actual limits.
Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

But it does say I have 1.5 gigabytes of free space.
If the file was over 1.5gb then it would fail.

Have you looked at http://www.dropbox.com/account/plan which lists all the quota you have including bonus space and when it wa awarded?

Yes.
It shows I still have free space.
But the application stopped me in the middle of an upload and said I was over limit.
So ... ?
Maybe I am misreading it. But it does say I have 1.5 gigabytes of free space.

Post a screenshot of your usage as shown on your Plan page. It should look like this:

Thanks for that, T Ashby! Do you also see that you’re using 3.8GB out of 5.3GB on your desktop app?
What’s the total size of files you were trying to add to your Dropbox account, when you got the message that there’s not enough space?

Yeah.
Sorry about posting this.
I went back and looked at the total size of the upload. It is over my larger limit.
I had added some books and was trying to move them around. It just never occurred to me they were so large.
Part of the confusion was that the application reported that I was over the 2 GB limit. and I focused on that, instead of double checking my upload.
Thank you all for the help!
