My Dropbox account appears full, but my files are only half the size.
Hello everyone,
This is my last try at fixing my storage issue before leaving dropbox. like other users before, my plan says my storage is at over 2 GB but my files are at less than half that. i have permanently deleted any deleted files. i have looked at events, nothing unusual there. any ideas as to how to fix? Thanks in advance, Sara

Keep in mind that deleting your files is enough. You don't need to permanently delete them. Doing so doesn't gain any additional space as the space used by those files has already been reclaimed.
Have you checked your Backups page? Also, take a screenshot of your usage as shown on your Plan page and post it here.

thanks yes I had checked the backups page, no usage there.

Thanks for the visual, arasps! So, according to your Plan page, the issue seems to lie with your shared content.
Can you also visit your Shared tab and check if there’s anything that could be explaining the storage usage there?

Thanks Nancy, they are the same files I have already shown you. Surely they dont count as double because I have shared them?

Hey arasps, I see a team folder in your screenshot; are you a member or perhaps an admin of a paid Dropbox team?
What kind of Dropbox plan do you currently have?

no its the free version.

thanks Nancy, the shared content seems to be the same as whats been saved, same files, same size.

Got it. From what you’ve mentioned (and from your screenshots), it seems that your Dropbox account is on a Basic team.
Is there any possibility that your collaborator(s) are exceeding their storage quota? If you have access to the Admin console, please have a look at the existing members there.
