My Dropbox account is showing 3x more data than I have on my disc and shared folders.
Hi, recently my Dropbox has warned me about going above quota (I use basic and should have a total of 4.8 GB available). The problem is - it is showing that I've gone to more than 12 GB when in fact I'm using less than 4.6.
Here are some screenshots showing what I've been able to determine so far:
- Here's the warning message:
- Dropbox on my hard drive (I have no files which are exclusively in cloud so this should equal my personal data stored on Dropbox):
Sizes of the shared folders I'm a member of:
From what I see, worst case I should be slightly over quota, but certainly not at 12 GB mark.
Any ideas??
Thx
Hey, thank you for this link!
Turns out, bulk of my Dropbox is assigned 'backup'. Upon further inspection, it seems that I've mistakenly clicked on backing up an SD card I use to Dropbox. Since it's a dashcam card, it was filled with recordings, and the rest is history.
I've deleted the backup and everything is now back to normal. Thank you once again! đ

Shared Folders stop syncing once you are over capacity, but, they can continue to have files put in them. So, for example, that bottom one with only 1MB in it could now have 10gb in it but you'd not know as syncing has stopped. Thats also why your machine is showing different values - as its not downloading.
Have a look at http://www.dropbox.com/account/plan to see how much the shared folders are using
