Why did I go over-quota, if the owner of the shared folder has a paid account?
I’m sharing files to a company folder that was created specifically for me. However, on my end, Dropbox is asking me to upgrade because I’ve run out of storage. The company I’m working with has a professional account, so I’m unsure why I’m being asked to pay in order to upload files to their folder.

Hey Hilda Barillas ! Thanks for posting on our forum today.
If someone else shares a folder with you and you add it to your Dropbox account, then its data will also take up space from it, like the rest of your personal files (for more info, please read this Help Center article).
In general, the space granted to a user (when upgrading their Dropbox account, for example) isn’t shared with anyone else, even if they’re sharing files with other people (with the exception of Dropbox teams/Family plans and their members). So, you’ll still need to have enough space to accommodate the folder on your Dropbox account.
Since you mention sharing files to the company folder though, do you mean that you just need to upload files to it? If yes, you can ask the owner of the folder to open a file request for you instead; this way, you don’t have to add the folder to your Dropbox account, but you can still upload content directly to their Dropbox.
Let me know if this helps, or if you need further assistance.
