Why does my referral show as ineligible?
Hi, I just referred a new user to dropbox, they are new to dropbox and have set-up the account but now my referral is showing as 'Ineligible' - please advise why this is?

Hey marcrickard, thanks for reaching out to us and sorry to see you're having an issue.
There are a few reasons why your referral may be marked as "ineligible".
It could mean that your recipient hasn't verified their email address.
It could also mean that they didn't install the Dropbox desktop app on their computer and sign in to their account.
Or it could mean that your recipient is attempting to register with the same computer as you.
Can you check with them and confirm?

Hi, thanks for the update. I set-up the new user myself, who is new to Dropbox, on a laptop that was purchased second-hand. The email address has been verified I think. There was already an install of Dropbox on the laptop, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, so not sure why this hasn't worked?

Hi from me as well, marcrickard! Since you mention referring the new user yourself, is there any chance you were both sharing the same IP address/WiFi connection (at the time the Dropbox app was installed and signed in to at least)?

This is likely the issue. For a referral to be eligible, it needs to be installed on a unique computer, meaning one that has never had Dropbox installed before.

I am writing to seek clarification regarding an issue I encountered with the Dropbox referral program. Recently, I referred several of my office colleagues—none of whom had previously used Dropbox—to install the service via my referral link. Initially, the referrals appeared as "Waiting for install" in my account. However, after they completed the installation, the status changed to "Ineligible."
Since all the referred individuals were new users and followed the installation steps, I am confused about why they were marked as ineligible. Could you kindly assist me in understanding the possible reasons for this issue and guide me on how to resolve it?
