Any way to allow the iPad's screen to shut off when a file is displayed in the Dropbox app?
Hi,
I just came home from work to discover my ipad screen still on, 9 hours after I left it.
I realised that when the dropbox app is open, and a document is being displayed (full screen or not), the screen timeout (to save battery life) does not function.
On my android phone the screen shuts off as per system power saving settings as expected.
Is there a way to allow the ipad screen to shut off to save battery when dropbox is displaying a pdf or someother document? I can't imagine anyone would want it to stay on permanently.
Thanks
Jon

Hi there jonb1 - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Is this the first time you noticed this happen? Could you please clarify your iPad's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?
Any additional information is more than welcome!

Hi Walter,
These first time I've noticed it but I've rarely use my iPad for this purpose until recently.
It's a 9th gen ipad with the latest update, iOS 18.4.1. Dropbox app update 422.2.2.
The screen sleeps fine when just browsing the dropbox app. It stops sleeping as soon as a document is selected to view.
Thanks!

There's no current way to work around this behavior, but it is behaving as intended. Perhaps we can convert this into a feature request to add a setting to control this?

Thanks Zac. It is curious intended behaviour!
Is a feature request the same as an 'idea', the link at the top of this webpage? (forum won't let me link it directly).
Or is there somewhere else I should suggest it?
thanks
