Can I use the command line to update the Dropbox app to File Provider on a virtual machine?

I have the 2 TB Family account.

I have DropBox installed on several virtual machines that are running Ventura latest.  As installed the installation has not relocated the DropBox folder to the .../Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox location.

Is there any thing I can do from the command line to force the transistion?

The menu bar contains the DropBox icon, but a version of VNC is being used to drive the VM and the window that opens when the icon is clicked is just flakey.  Impossible to navigate to the preferences tell it to move to FileProvider.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Dennis Womack! Thanks for posting your question here.

We can’t indicate whether this would work fully as expected as this is third party software and may have unexpected configurations. We do have some general recommendations that may help.

For Dropbox to work correctly, it needs to be installed in an Operating System (OS) that’s not part of a Shared Session. If installed into a virtual environment, it’d need to be installed into a user account that’s part of this virtual desktop or virtual machine and only accessed by that user account. The Dropbox folder should also be located on the same mounted drive that’s running the virtual machine or virtual desktop.

Please be aware that if you install Dropbox on a virtual machine or virtual desktop that are non-persistent, such that they are reset on a schedule or after logging off, Dropbox may be logged out and need to re-sync every time this occurs.

Hope this helps a bit, but I’m here, if you need something else.
