Dropbox is missing from Finder sidebar after I renamed the Dropbox folder

Hi, I stupidly tried to rename my Dropbox earlier today. I thought it would be useful if I called it MyInitialsDropbox. Well, apparently that is not allowed because then my mac locked up. Now, Dropbox is gone from the Finder bar on the left of the computer. When I go into the app, it looks like my files are all still there, but I can't tell if I'm signed in or not. I have restarted the computer (Mac0S Sonoma 14.5, up to date) and done a rewind using the dropbox app. I even cancelled the renaming at the time. How do i get the dropbox back where I open and save files??  Thank you....Cathy

Hey catpainting136, thanks for reaching out to us.

I believe the best thing to do at this point is the following:

    1. Unlink the computer from your Dropbox by deleting it from your linked devices at the bottom of your Security page here
    2. Delete the Dropbox folder (since the app will be unlinked, your files will not be affected)
    3. Relink by signing back in to the app

This should do the trick, but please keep me updated.

    Thanks!

Hi and thank you!     Sorry, but how do I "delete the Dropbox folder?"

Hey catpainting136, let me jump in here too!

You should be able to locate the folder within your Finder and then delete it.

Let me know if you need anything else!
