Having trouble syncing a file on my Mac to Dropbox.

Application Affected
Desktop App
Device
Mac Studio
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
macOOS Sequoia 15.6.1
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
203.4.8797

Question or Issue
I need to sync a file on my desktop to the dropbox file.  I need the desktop dropbox app to open the application to do this.  Unfortunately the desktop app only opens the files in the finder.  I have uninstalled the app and re-installed, but the same things happens.  Any suggestions.  Many thanks.

Hey TommieD, I'd be happy to look into this with you!

Do you see a Dropbox icon in your menu bar, near your WiFI? Also, could you walk me through the steps you usually take to add these files to your account?

To sync using the desktop app, you'll need to have it installed first. Once it's installed, you can open your local Dropbox folder and drag any files into it, so they can sync automatically.

One more thing: have you tried the offline installer found here, in order to download the app's latest version too?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there.

Hey TommieD! Sorry for the nudge.

If you still need our help, can you reply to Megan’s questions above, and also clarify what you mean when saying that you need the desktop Dropbox app to open the application to do this?
