How can I make a shortcut to a Dropbox folder via the widgets on my Android phone?

Hey guys,

I'm struggling to find a solution to establish a quick access link to a Dropbox folder on my Android Phone.  When I Google it, it says I can do that via the Dropbox Widget, and that's not available on my widget list.

Anyone else experiencing this, or have a work around that could help me with a quick access to a Dropbox folder?

I'm running a Android phone Oppo Find X8 Pro - Hardware: CPH2659_11

Version No. CPH2659_15.0.0.831(EX01)

Cheers,

Stephen

Welcome back to our Community, Stephen Armytage! Hope you’re doing great.

My understanding is that you’re following these steps to create a shortcut to one of your Dropbox folders. Correct?

When saying that’s not available on your widget list though, are you referring to the Dropbox mobile app in general, or the specific folder you’re trying to make a shortcut of?

Let me know, and we’ll go from there.

  • Hi Nancy,

    Thanks for your response.

Exactly right, when I follow "these steps" as identified above, when I scroll through the alphabetic widget list on my phone the Dropbox Mobile App is not on the list for my Android phone.

See screen shot attached, ironically, the Drive widget is listed but no sign of the Drobox widget :(

Hope this helps you diagnose what's going on for me, as it's for my wife and she's getting very frustrated :(

    Cheers and thanks,

    Stephen

    Hey Stephen Armytage

I also have an Android phone, running a Galaxy 25 Ultra which also uses Android 15 like your Oppo Find X8 Pro. When I tried to follow the steps in the link provided by Nancy everything worked just fine which leads me to believe this issue might be caused by the version of the Android OS you're running.

As you know, manufacturers run their own custom versions of Android to tweak the experience.

I'll check with the team to see if there's anything we can look into, but there's a possibility your issue isn't caused by Dropbox, but rather the customized version of Android you have.

Stephen Armytage What happens when you long press the Dropbox icon in your app drawer? When I do it, I'm presented with a popup menu where I can select the Dropbox Folder and create a shortcut. Maybe this path will work for you as well
