Thanks Megan! I had not tried that earlier because I was already a dropbox member thru the old computer.  I have now downloaded the app on my second iMac but clicking on the icon does not work! I guess I need some add'l help.

Hey Landsmann_5472x, thanks for the fast response!

Do you click on the bigger icon on your menu bar, that redirects you to your Dropbox folder, or your little Dropbox icon next to your WiFi?

Would you mind clarifying your iMac's current OS, along with the Dropbox syncing status of the app at the moment?

To answer your questions:  I have clicked on the small gray dropbox icon many times and only get a gray and black, broken up icon bouncing around. I am running OS 16.4.1, but don't know what you mean by "syncing status."

    Hm, I see Landsmann_5472x.

Have you tried performing an advanced reinstall using these steps? If not, give it a go and let me know how it turns out.

Megan .... sorry for the delay in responding. After struggling with your program for several

I have to tell you that at this point I am sorry I signed up for Dropbox and may just unsubscrbe unless I can utilize it in the simple way I imagined.

I am a year away from celebrating my 80th birthday. My computer usage and needs are very basic. On the other hand I am not a neophyte. I have used a number of macs for many years and usually accomplished what was needed without too much trouble. But my concern is that Dropbox seems to offer so many features and capabilities that my most basic need -- simple, reliable backup storage -- appears to have been forgotten.

I realize that may be an unfair comment because I have little patience for technical stuff that goes far beyond what is needed. But one look at your long list of tutorials is enough to send me looking for an alternative, SIMPLE, method of backing up my important files and photos -- without any further bells and whistles. Simple and Basic is all I need. Can you assure me in simple,  non-technical jargon what I have to do to use Dropbox in the manner I would like? For example:  Can I simply load my files into various folders, drag them to the "Upload or Drop" box on your site and be done with it?

Thank you for your patience with me.

Hey Landsmann_5472x, thanks for your feedback on this!

I completely understand where you're coming from and I'll make sure to pass your comments along to our team.

Regarding the Dropbox app, would it be possible to send us a screenshot of what the issue is, so we can have a visual and help you better?

I totally agree with your help files complaint - I have a dozen tabs open of help files, and each help file refers to another help file.  I'd rather have more info on a page with a heading telling me which part of the page covers my problem and my OS.

And for heavens sake now that there is the "...file server..." whatever version, be sure that help files specifically have a category for that app. It seems to have eliminated a number of expected features of Dropbox.
