I keep seeing the File Provider update message. How do I turn it off?

DropBox consistently badges their app and tries to sell me on this lame feature. How do I stop it from just constantly badging? I dismiss it and it just comes back again. It makes it pretty clear that DropBox doesn't care about its users or their experience but whatever. A solution to me is not including "Just use the feature" I just want it not to bother me all the time.

Sorry to hear this, boxlikeapig. Let’s have a look.

I'm afraid there's no way to avoid receiving this pop-up, but let's check together.

    When did this start happening?

What I’d like you to do is open your Dropbox app preferences, and go to your Sync tab. Please send me a screenshot of the Dropbox folder location that shows there.

Let me know, and we’ll take it from there.

      Hi Megan,

Droptox doesn't bother me on my macbook air, but I have the same problem on my Mac mini. It is absolutely annoying having to click this message away every time I login.

Why does it keep popping up on one computer, but not the other?

I don't want to upgrade to File System Provider, because Dropbox hasn't figured out how to do LAN Sync yet, which is essential for me on my limited Internet connection.

Also, syncing something that is on a LAN via Dropbox servers is highly inefficient and bad for the planet. Why aren't your developers thinking of this?

Any help with getting rid of this message is much appreciated.

      Best regards,

      Robert

PS: Here are two screenshots of the sync settings of the mac mini and the macbook air. Settings are identical.

Hey Robert. As Megan mentioned above, there’s no way to stop these notifications from popping up, if your device is eligible for the File Provider update.

However, since I understand you don’t wish to upgrade to it yet, I’ve forwarded your comments and feedback to our team, so that they can see them, as well.
