I need to move my Dropbox folder: how do I disable Backup prior to doing that?

Hi!

Before moving my dropbox folder's location, I am told I need to disable backup first. I keep finding instructions to delete a backup, but I don't think it's the same as deleting it. I don't want to delete anything! I just want to move my dropbox folder. TIA

  • Hi EbbandFlow, thanks for messaging the Community.

Deleting a backup is the same as disabling the Dropbox Backup feature.

In order to move the the Dropbox folder, you would need to follow the steps recommended by the Dropbox desktop application.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Ok, thank you. I did do that.

However, even after I did that, the dropbox app kept crashing while I was moving my dropbox file. Perhaps it was too big? I ended up de-installing the software, and re-installing it and choosing the desired new location, and it downloaded all my files in that new location from the cloud. That's how I made it work in the end. The "change location" feature for the dropbox file never worked. Just so you know, something to look into and fix.

    Thanks!
