Installing Dropbox desktop app for Windows to Program Files instead of x86 Program Files
Is there any way to modify Dropbox installation procedure so that it installs to Program Files folder instead of Program Files (x86)...?
e.g. with some parameter after dropbox-install.exe
If not when is it in schedule to change the folder?
Dropbox is one of only programs left that I have that installs to Program Files x86. The program seems to be already 64-bit so it could very well be located in Program Files with majority of other apps.

Hey golemus - thanks for posting on our Community and sharing your thoughts on this.
Can you please clarify the OS version of your computer and the version of the Dropbox desktop app that you installed there?
Is there any particular reason you're looking to do this by the way?
Let us know more and we'll take it from there.

1. It is easier to keep track of all apps if they are located in same folder (C:\Program Files)
2. C:\Program Files (x86) is a legacy thing, I want to get rid of all legacy stuff and all 32bit stuff as loading/keeping both 32 and 64 bit environments consume more memory and is less stable than pure 64 bit environment. - Walter6 months ago

dropboxI have the same question that Walter asked.
I am running Win10 Pro 22H2 19045.5440. I tried to install several stable builds of the x64 version (e.g., 216.4.4420) but the file version (1.3.911.1), like previous releases, is not a 64-bit application.
The installer automatically defaults to a 32-bit version of the program and installs its files in C:\Program Files (x86) instead of C:\Program Files, which is the default directory for x64 applications.
Of course, 64-bit versions of Windows can run 32-bit applications, but this is not efficient. It is also misleading to tell users that you have "stable 64-bit versions" of the program available for offline installation, when they are actually 32-bit versions intended to run on 64-bit machines.

Hi Roy_H, though Dropbox is still installed into Program Files (x86), that we do in fact have and serve a 64 bit version of Dropbox. As an example, other companies appear to do this too, such as Microsoft with Edge. We do not have any plans on changing the install location at this time.
