Possible to back up Mac desktop files to access them from other computers?

I'd be really happy if I could sync my Mac desktop to Dropbox cloud, so I could see my desktop files from other devices.

There have been many discussions of this online over the years, all point to making a symbolic link to Desktop in the Dropbox folder, but some say that various versions of Dropbox have, or haven't, supported this.

I did the symlink, but it's not working... Dropbox Preferences / Sync / Selective Sync   doesn't show this symlink as an option to check to sync.

Any advice?

I'm afraid that what you're describing is not possible with Dropbox backup, at least not in a way that's supported by us.

If you enable the feature, you can access your desktop files from other computers using the backups page on the Dropbox website.

Otherwise, you'd need to manually move the files into the Dropbox folder, to sync them to your account.

Let me know if you have any questions.
