Problem syncing files on new installation on Windows 10

Hi there,

I recently got a new laptop with Windows and set up Dropbox with my existing folder stored on an external hard drive. I followed the advanced installation steps, but when I try to sync my files, Dropbox displays the number of files to sync but doesn't progress—it just stays in a continuous syncing state.

I am using Windows 10 22H2, and Dropbox version 218.3.4 2 1 6

Additionally, I’ve noticed that some files have a gray "X" icon on them. I can open, edit, and delete these files from the Dropbox folder, but I’m not sure what the icon means or if it’s related to the syncing issue.

Could you please help me troubleshoot this? I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hi Firebrand - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Have you tried quitting and relaunching the app and/or rebooting your computer since you first noticed this?

That said, I can see that you're running a beta version of the app. Could you try the latest, stable version from this page and let me know if you get the same results?

Just make sure to toggle off the 'early releases' from your account's settings first.

As for the gray X icons on your files, you can have a look at this Help Center article for more information.

Let me know of any updates!
