Support for Mac OS 10.13.x being dropped

Application Affected
Dropox
Device
2015 15" Macbook
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Mac OS 10.13.x High Sierra
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
230.4.8797

Question or Issue
My entire business operation runs FLAWLESSLY on 2 solid amd beautifully made 2015 Macbook computers...using Adobe Suite and many many many other applications for the last 10+ years -- and I've have been using Dropbox to sync files between my devices AND SYNCING FOLDERS/FILES WITH OVER 30 CLIENTS!!!

I got notification just today that Dropbox will be dropping support for older Mac OS 10.13.x. and it will stop syncing?

When? Next year? No...like now!!!!!

WHAY?! WHY?

The only functionality I need and use use is simply SYNCING files. That's all many people need. They do not need all the corporate added bells and whistles.

To update Dropbox will require me buying 2 new computers, and upgrading Adobe Suite and many other apps that will costs THOUSAND of $$$$$ -- WITH LITTLE TO NO BENEFIT -- or more likely NEGATIVE benefits as I'll have to struggle with software incompatibilities for the next year -- AND WITH NO BENEFIT.

Why can't Dropbox just keep syncing files with the existing app? It runs FLAWLESSLY. It does not need to be updated...? Just SIMPLE sync.

I assume there are $$$ to be made.

Please Dropbox, if you're going to do things like this give us a YEAR notice.

Now I'll have to find an alternative.

Hey there fabricwonder - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this.

I've logged your feedback in our system and you can let  us know if you have anything else to add.

As you know, for now, Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra (and later) is still supported and you should be able to run the  Dropbox desktop app to sync your files normally.

You can also have a look at this discussion which echoes your query here.

I know it's not much, but I hope this helps a tad.

Hi fabricwonder, thanks for reaching out and for being such a long-time Dropbox customer. I want to reassure you that your files will continue syncing on your current setup.

Dropbox is limiting support for macOS 10.13–10.15. This means you were switched to a lighter version of the Dropbox desktop app. You still have access to core features like syncing and sharing files, but some advanced desktop options are no longer available.

For example, you won’t be able to:

    • Set up new computer or external drive backups, adjust backup settings, or restore backup content from your desktop
    • Get guided help with sync issues or manage storage through the Manage Hard Drive Space panel
    • Add text, shapes, or drawings to screenshots before sharing

Your files remain safe and accessible, and syncing continues to work. If there are any future changes, we’ll notify you directly with advance notice.

We truly appreciate your feedback and loyalty — it helps us improve how we communicate updates like this.

    Best,
    Megane
