Dropbox Capture was suddenly retired
Dear Dropbox Support Team,
I am writing on behalf of my organization to express deep frustration and disappointment regarding Dropbox’s sudden decision to retire Dropbox Capture—a tool that was not just useful but essential to our daily workflow. As a CCO of an agency working across multiple time zones, Capture played a vital role in streamlining collaboration, enhancing communication, and bridging geographical barriers effortlessly.
The abrupt discontinuation of a well-recognized, internationally valued tool—without any viable alternative—has significantly disrupted our operations. No transition plan, no replacement, and no warning left businesses like ours scrambling for an alternative to a platform that had become deeply integrated into our workflow.
Do you know really what value you provide for dropbox capture user or not ? let me mention it again :
- Seamless Asynchronous Collaboration: Allowed our teams to share ideas instantly through video and screen recordings, eliminating the constraints of different time zones.
- Efficient Feedback Loop: Enabled real-time visual communication, drastically reducing the back-and-forth of emails and messages.
- Enhanced Productivity: Simplified onboarding, creative briefings, and internal reviews with a straightforward and intuitive tool.
- Integration with Dropbox Ecosystem: Provided a unified workspace that made storage, feedback, and execution seamless.
By retiring Capture without a structured replacement, Dropbox has left traffic managers , creative directors without a critical collaboration tool, forcing them to look elsewhere—but eventhogh it will not be integrated with Dropbox
We strongly urge Dropbox to either bring back Capture as a paid subscription option or launch a stronger alternative that delivers (if not exceeds) the same functionality. Simply shutting it down without a proper replacement does not align with the user-centric approach we expect from a company like Dropbox.
We hope to hear a clear resolution from you soon. The loss of Capture is not just an inconvenience—it is a major setback for businesses that relied on it daily.

As much as I agree (I loved capture!) they did give notice (over 2 months or so - here, by email and also within the Capture app itself). This thread here may give some ideas for alternatives (I'm currently liking Zappy from Zapier as I prefer image shots over videos).
Also they are adding functionality into the main Dropbox but it seems to be more images rather than videos.

To add to this. I've never ever seen them go back on a product decision once its made (and I've been here since it was a beta product). The replies from Dropbox will be that its gone and feedback fed in.
From a practical point of view, sorry, but you will need to find an alternative. Hopefully the thread I linked to above will help.
