Excel file corrupt and unable to open via Dropbox
I have 2 laptops and they have always been on microsoft 365, I have now changed one to a hard copy of Office 2021 and now my microsoft 365 account laptop will not open any Office files from my Dropbox account. Message: "Excel cannot open the file 'xxxxx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." I was able to open previously
Thank you ever so much for your time, I have no idea what has actually sorted the issue, but I ended up re-installing Microsoft 365 and this now appears to have resolved the issue.
I tried various other items of re-installing the hard copy, Updating all my files, logging out of everything and then logging back in all to no avail.
The files never opened on Dropbox.com either.
Yet, when I uninstalled Microsoft 365 and re-installed, everything in Dropbox became available again.
Thank you.
Martin

As you have downgraded Office have you checked that it is capable of opening the newer files from 365?
Do the files open on Dropbox.com if you preview them? If so the files are not the issue is, Office being a different version is almost certainly the problem.
