Optimizing Dropbox for Secure Digital Downloads on a WooCommerce Platform
Hello Dropbox Community 😀
I am currently in the process of developing an e-commerce website that operates via WooCommerce on WordPress. The primary products I am selling are sound packs for music producers.
My main concern is around the delivery method of these packs post-purchase. I want to provide a seamless and efficient download process for my customers while ensuring security and abuse prevention.
To this end, I'm considering Dropbox as a potential solution for hosting and delivering these sound pack files. Specifically, I'd like to automate the process so that when a customer makes a purchase, they receive a link to the Dropbox location of their purchased sound pack.
However, I have a few questions that I'm hoping the community can help with:
-
Can Dropbox links be programmed to only work for a specific email address or user? This could prevent unauthorized sharing of the files.
-
How can I manage the bandwidth or download limit for these files if the number of purchases increases substantially?
-
Are there any potential issues I should be aware of when integrating Dropbox with WooCommerce for this purpose?
I'm open to all suggestions and advice. I want to ensure my customers have a good user experience while their purchases remain secure. If you know of any alternatives that may be more suited to my needs, I would also appreciate hearing about those.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best,
provorone

Hi provorone , thanks for messaging the Community!
Currently, it isn't possible to restrict shared links to specific emails, since anyone with the browser would be able to access them.
There is a daily bandwidth limit, depending on your plan, which can't be adjusted. If the bandwidth has been breached, then the shared links would be banned temporarily.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
