How can I buy a Dropbox subscription for a friend so I can send them photos?

I want to share one folder of thousands of photos with her. When I sent her a link to the folder, she started saving photos one at a time to her cellphone and quickly ran out of room. She said that's the only way she can keep viewing them... Does the link expire?

I don't want her on a Family Plan because I keep my Journal in Drop Box--very personal info dating from 1961 to the present.  She can't afford to buy a Drop Box account of her own, so I'd like to buy one in her name (I'll pay the monthly or yearly fee).

Can I do this simply by using her email address?

TIA

Hey Sharon Smith, thanks for posting your question to our Community!

If you simply want to share files with someone else, you don't need to purchase a subscription for them.

They should be able to access and download all the photos from the link you sent them, as long as you used these steps to create the link.

If they're using the option to copy the photos to their Dropbox account, it makes sense that their account would get full, if they have a free Dropbox account at the moment.

But they can simply download the photos directly to their device from that link. This doesn't even require a Dropbox account.

Can you have them try and let me know how it goes?

    Thanks!

Perhaps I forgot to mention that when I sent her a link to the folder, she started saving photos to her cellphone and quickly ran out of room.

She was able to view them via the link I sent but she wanted to download all of them to her cellphone, which cannot hold 8000 to 9000 photos. She wants to be able to send a few photos at a time to her friends, paste some into Facebook, and so on. I don't see any way she could do that from Dropbox itself.

Hey Sharon! Let me hop in here, too.

Does your friend have any other devices perhaps, like a computer, where she could save the photos instead and upload them to Facebook from the same device after that?

She does have a computer, but it can't store thousands of photos. She needs to be able to dip into Drop Box now and then, download it, post it somewhere, then scroll through several dozen more for fun.

Thanks to everyone who's tried to help. I gather it's impossible for me to use her email address to open a Dropbox account for her, meanwhile arranging to pay for it myself. She's disabled in a few ways, but today I think I've explained enough to her so she can sign up for the free account.

My own laptop's not working well--I'm about to take it to our repair guy. It won't let me discover the size of the folder I want to share with her. So if it turns out she gets the Free version, then a warning that it's full, I'll have to send her money to pay for the slightly larger one.

Happy Spring everyone, at least if you're in the northern hemisphere!
