Documents folder on Mac is missing, replaced by Dropbox link

Hi

I was looking for my documents on my mac desktop and it has somehow now been linked directly to Dropbox, not my documents on my desktop mac. I cannot find any of my documents that were on my computer. In checking dropbox.com, some of the documents / folder  are in Backup on dropbox for my previous Mac, but I need to stop Dropbox taking over my document folder on my current mac, and get back the docs that were happily there just a week ago. 

Any suggestions?

    Hey drjoncallow, thanks for reaching out to our Community.

     

    If you've enabled our backup feature on your Mac, but do not wish to keep it, you can follow these steps, to disable it.

     

    Can you try and let me know how it goes?
