How can I disconnect my personal Dropbox account from a team to link it with my new account instead?
Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble fully disassociating my personal Dropbox account (which I pay for and is under a different email and password) from a former Dropbox Business team account so I may link it to my new Dropbox Lumen account on my PCs.
Although I’ve unlinked the account from my PC and am no longer part of the team, Dropbox still identifies my personal account as associated with the former firm team, which is preventing me from linking it to my new Lumen business Dropbox account.
I need guidance on how to:
Fully remove my personal account from the Flatiron team without affecting my personal files (these were never part of the team).
Ensure my personal Dropbox account operates as a standalone account.
Any advice or steps to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark2025! Thanks for posting on our Community.
Do you mean that you paired your personal Dropbox account with the other team this way?
If yes, you can unlink it with these steps and you should then be able to connect it to your other account (if it's also on a team plan). Your personal account and its files shouldn't be affected by this process and it'll still function as a personal standalone account. If that’s not the case though and I've misunderstood something, I’d like a few screenshots of what you see now when trying to connect your personal account with the new one you’ve set up. I'd also like a screenshot of what you see on this page.
I’ll be able to further help this way.

If the team is still active, you'll need to contact the team admin and ask them to convert your account to an individual account. It's very important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin (and only the team admin) has seven days to restore the account. They must convert it to an individual account using the instructions linked above.

If you're planning to join another Business team, your account will not remain an individual account. Like previously, it will be absorbed into the team account and use one of their licenses. You can't join a team and keep your account as is.
If you only need to share some files, ask the team admin to invite you to a shared folder as an external collaborator instead, so your account remains yours.
One other note... you said that you pay for your account but it's associated with a Business team account. Know that when you joined the team, you would have received a prorated refund for any time remaining on your subscription. When the team admin converts your account to an individual account, you'll be back on the Basic plan and will need to resubscribe if that's your intention (if you join another team, don't resubscribe and it will just be refunded again).
