Problems reading SD-cards and USB sticks

With Dropbox installed on my laptop, I cannot access the content of SD-cards or USB sticks inserted in relevant slots on the laptop. Dropbox pops up a Window and ask if I want to copy the content to DropBox. This blocks other apps from reading data on the SD-card and/or the USB stick.

It seems as if DropBox has injected itself into a handler that accesses removable devices´. This is quite annoying.
I look forward to advice as to how I can prevent this behaviour.

Best regards from Denmar

Dropbox can't block other applications from reading your flash media. Even if it's set as the default handler (which you can change in your AutoPlay settings if you're on Windows), it can't block other apps from accessing the drives.

If you want to stop it from prompting you to backup the drives, you can do so on the Backup tab in Dropbox Preferences by unchecking the option that says Show setup notifications when new external drives are plugged in.

    Hello again Rich,

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

It took a while to find the DropBox preferences, partly because they were in Danish by default, partly because I didn't realize that Dropbox, when opened, disappears into the lower right corner of the screen.

Now I have changed all Windows' autostart options to "Ask" and disabled the Backup by default question when inserting SD-cards and USB sticks.

Tomorrow, I'll try with an SD-card from my CPAP device.

It would certainly be easier than having to copy the card on my wife's laptop before analyzing the daily sleep data.

    Best regards from Denmark
