Being asked for a 6 digit code sent to an email address I can no longer access
I have a dropbox plus account that is connected to an old email address to which I can no longer access.
I have the password, but after I log in I am asked for the 6 digit code sent to the e-mail address that I cannot access.
The 8 digit codes I received when I signed up do not work.
The help pages are useless in resolving this problem.
Any ideas on what to do?

You're referring to two different security features. The codes 8-digit codes are likely the emergency backup codes you receive when activating two-step verification.
The codes sent to your email when signing in are one-time security codes, and these are requested when Dropbox doesn't recognize the sign-in attempt, or finds it suspicious (new device, different location, etc.). This is separate from the two-step verification that you can enable yourself.

You can try contacting Support, but without access to the email account you may not be able to gain access to the Dropbox account. You need to maintain an active email address on your account so you can receive password resets and one-time security codes used during sign in.

To contact Support, visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox address, including these forums, and you'll see an option for sign in issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
