Can't log in because I don't receive the security code to my email
Hi. I have a question and I hope someone has been able to solve the same problem. I created a dropbox account years ago with a fake email address. Super stupid I know that now because because of this I can't get into that account anymore. It asks for a verification code and of course I don't get it because that email address is not a mail address at all. So I created a new e-mail account, so now the e-mail address does exist, but I still don't get any e-mails from the verification code. I guess because that email address didn't exist before. What should I do now? I really want that account in as it contains old photos. Thanks in advance for any help!

You can try contacting Support, but without access to the email account, it's unlikely that you can gain access to the Dropbox account. You need to maintain an active email address on your account so you can receive password resets and one-time security codes used during sign in.
Also, when was the last time you signed in to the account? If the account has been idle for more than a year, then it would have been deleted due to inactivity.
To contact Support, visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for sign in issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.

Okay, thank you for your help!
I haven't logged in for at least a year, I think two years. So is it therefore already completely certain that I cannot get the account back? Or is there still a small chance...

Hi @quintyschreurs, thanks for contacting us.
If you create the email address, you should receive the verification email. However, if the account hasn't been accessed for over 12 months, then it would've been deactivated due to inactivity.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful on this matter.

Okay thank you. So for the next time I have to log in once every year to just keep it activated?..

Yes that is correct - unless of course they change the T&C's, but, they do send multiple emails about this before deletion (I think it is currently about 4).
