Do I need to logout of the site or app when shutting down my PC?
Do I need to log out of the Dropbox website when shutting down my PC? Should I also log out of Dropbox on my PC app?

Hi AB_AT, thanks for messaging the Community!
It does depend on the level of security you want and who could access your device.
Are you using a personal machine, a shared machine (such as a family PC), or a work machine with a password?
This will help me to assist further!

Thanks Jay. I use a personal PC.

And somehow, my username got changed. I forgot the first one, then the page asked for a new one, so I made a new one. Confusing. Sorry!

Hi ChrisAnne, you can't have a different username under the same email, as it is linked to your Dropbox account.
This means you've signed onto the Community using another Dropbox account under a different email address. I'd recommend ensuring you're not signed into the wrong account.
Regarding the original query, you can sign out of the Dropbox site when you finish using it. There isn't a need to sign out of the Dropbox desktop application, since this will stop syncing, and could cause issues if you constantly sign in and out of the app.
For extra security, I'd recommend a password on your personal PC, so that only you can access it.

I've got in such a mess with all this. Have been subscribed to Dropbox for many years under the free option. Then a couple of weeks ago decided to use the paid plan and did that okay. BUT not sure if I've got the two accounts mixed up using different emails. Is there a number to call so I can get this sorted out? I've not even begun setting up the paid account properly yet.
