PDF image fills don't display with opacity when viewed on Dropbox

PDF image fills don't display with opacity when viewed on Dropbox

Hi All,

I use dropbox for file sharing and prepare architectural drawings using Vectorworks.

I am on a Mac and pdfs are created and viewed with preview.

If any of my drawings use an image with an opacity (transparency) when viewed on Dropbox all of the images that have an opacity (transparency) are viewed as solid fills.

Has anyone else had this issue?
I note once files are downloaded there are no issues with the opacity and image fills.

Hey @AdriannaB, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community!

I'm assuming that this is the behavior you're seeing on our website, right?

Web previews do not necessarily represent the quality of the original file, that's why you're seeing what you're seeing.

If they open and show up as they should, when they're downloaded locally, then the file is, of course, fine.

Would it be possible to send us a couple of screenshots for comparison of the web preview and the local one?

Thanks Adrianna!

Hi Hannah,

Correct the view discrepancy is when the file is viewed on the website.
I have added screen grabs so you can see the difference when viewed on the website and the other when downloaded locally.

Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Thank you !

Thanks for the screenshots, Adrianna.

Indeed, that looks like expected behavior, because it's just a web preview.

I'll make sure to pass your comments along to our team, though, so thanks for letting us know.
