Windows 8. Can't uninstall, have an old version. Can't install, click icon - error message

Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe. Make sure you've typed the name correctly then try again

Checked the windows and AVG firewalls - no problem found

I can find the above file and location when I search on the pc, but the pc doesn't see it

When I checked for windows firewall - there were 2 dropbox on the list. Is that normal?

My boss just bought a dropbox package and all the other team members can get the app to download and install, but I cannot

I had dropbox some time back, but haven't used it in a long time. My boss has tried. I've tried. I've downloaded and tried to load the full version - also no luck.

Every time I try to uninstall what via control panel, uninstall fails.

Tried to follow your instructions, more than half I cannot do because I cannot get dropbox to open in the first place.

And my computer doesn't have apps

or anything called apps in my control panel, so I cannot follow those instructions.

Give this a try: Download the offline installer of our Dropbox app. Double-click the downloaded file. After the install completes, click the Dropbox icon in the system tray. Click the gear icon. Click Quit Dropbox. Try to uninstall Dropbox again.

DOES NOT WORK

If the app still won’t uninstall, follow these steps to manually uninstall: Open Windows File Explorer. Copy this line and paste it into the address bar. Press Enter. %PROGRAMFILES(x86)% In “Program Files,” open the “Dropbox” folder, then open the “Client” folder. In “Client,” you should see a file named DropboxUninstaller.exe. Double-click this file to run the uninstaller.

DOES NOT WORK

If the uninstaller fails or doesn’t launch, try running the uninstaller as an administrator: Right-click DropboxUninstaller.exe. Select Run as Administrator. Enter the computer admin username and password when prompted. Follow the the steps in the uninstaller.

DOES NOT WORK

Hi @Nadine264, I'd be happy to help!

Now, in order to fix this issue, would you mind opening the "Task Manager" by right-clicking the taskbar and clicking "Start Task Manager"?

Then please click on the "Processes" tab to see if there are any other processes associated with Dropbox that may be preventing Dropbox from being removed from your device. You may need to click "Show processes from all users" to check all processes.

Once you are viewing these processes, and if you see any items that refer to Dropbox, or recognize any programs that you may have linked to Dropbox, please perform the following steps for each applicable process:

- Click on the line that references the process to select it
- Click on "End Process"

After you've done so, please try to follow the normal uninstall instructions, and let me know how it goes.

Thanks a bunch!
