Is Dropbox update for Mac OS File Provider on an account basis or a per-installation basis?

Is Dropbox update for Mac OS File Provider on an account basis or a per-installation basis?

I have Dropbox on both an iMac and a MacBook Pro. The install on the iMac has a 512GB system drive and the Dropbox folder on an external drive, so obviously I can't update it.

But can I update the installation on my MacBook only, where I use most files as online-only? Or will upgrading on one installation automatically upgrade the whole account on any and all of its installations?

Thanks!

William

Hey @william1111, thanks for posting your question to our Community!

Indeed, the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider update is device specific.

It depends on factors such as the location of the Dropbox folder, the OS version etc., but it's not universal for the entire account automatically.

You can read more about the update here.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
