Dropbox disappears from my Mac on restart.

Hi - whenever I restart my Macbook Pro (after a software u/grade for example) the Dropbox app disappears and I have to do a full re-install of Dropbox otherwise nothing syncs. Any idea why, and can this be resolved? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hey there, chrisbreen, let's see what we can find on this together!

Do you notice this behavior after a simple restart, even if you haven't updated your software?

If you check your Applications folder on your Mac, do you see Dropbox there when this happens?

I'm trying to identify if you're simply missing the small Dropbox icon that shows up on your menu bar, next to your WiFi, or if the app gets entirely removed.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan - many thanks for getting back to me. I should have taken a screen shot but didn't, apologies. I noticed it first after a recent Apple update because files weren't syncing to my ipad and elsewhere. I did some investigating and discovered that Dropbox had completely disappeared from the Applications folder. Assuming that somehow I had deleted it (unlikely, but...), I redownloaded and installed it, and the sync'ing happened immediately. Last night there was another Apple update and Dropbox had again disappeared from the applications folder and in the Finder side panel it was represented by a square. I downloaded and re-installed Dropbox again and everything is working again. But that is definitely not right!

Reinstall dropbox then give it full disk access, and look if any security software is messing with it.

It has full disc access. What do I look at to see if any software is "messing with it", and how would I know?
