I keep removing files either via online-only or selective sync, but they remain on my hard drive.
I keep moving files to online only but then they re-appear in my hard drive. I've used both SelectiveSync and simply manually moving files and folders to online only. However, the files and folder never disappear from my hard drive. Anyone else have this problem?

Hey andygerber74, welcome to our Community!
As a first step, could you clarify your device's OS, and the Dropbox version that you're using? You can find the app version by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi on your task bar.
Just to clarify, moving files to "online-only" shouldn't remove your files from your Dropbox folder. It simply reduces their size to 0kB on your device.
However, if you're using selective sync the files won't appear in your Dropbox folder but should still be accessible when you check your account online.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan. I'm running on Windows 10 Pro. Hovering the mouse over the Dropbox icon in my taskbar doesn't tell me the version but I think I'm on Basic.

Hi from me too, andygerber74! Can you see your Dropbox app version this way perhaps? The app version Megan is referring to should be something similar to the one you see here.
As for your files returning back to your computer, can you open your local Dropbox folder and send me a screenshot of what you see there?

Hi Nancy. Here is a screenshot of what I see when I click on my avatar from the App version. . .no option for "Preferences" to click:
Here is a screenshot of what I see in my local Dropbox folder. I right-clicked the mouse on the Dropbox folder and the menu that you see below appears. I go to "Manage Hard Drive Space", go through the motions of either using Selective Sync or moving files to Online Only (I've tried both) and it appears to all work. However, as soon as I open the local folder all the files and folders that were suppose to be moved off my local hard drive are still there (all 75 GB worth):

Hey andygerber74 - thanks for the screenshots and the additional information.
I'm not seeing the Dropbox icon in your system tray and any syncing icons on your files. Have you ensured that the Dropbox desktop app is running and syncing normally?
When it comes to your first screenshot, note that this is a web browser and not the desktop app's preferences.
Keep us posted with any updates!

I don't know. When I open Dropbox via the Start menu it takes me either to the Web or to Windows Explorer. Is there a number I can call to speak to a human to work through this?

It looks like I have the Desktop app installed but when I go to open it it simply takes me to Windows Explorer.

Can you search for the Dropbox desktop app from your computer's search bar and try to launch it from there andygerber74?
When it comes to your support options, you can have a look here for more information. There you'll find that phone support is available to the Dropbox Standard, Advanced, Business, Business Plus, or Enterprise plans at this time.

I tried that. It just opens Windows Explorer.

I just accessed the app on my phone and I have Dropbox Plus.
