I need to change my payment from Playstore directly to Dropbox, but I can't find a way.

Hi,

So I've been planning to switch payment method from Playstore to Dropbox website (a credit card), since there's been some issues in my Google Playstore. Since this cannot be changed in the Dropbox Application, I tried to change this by first unsubscribing the plan from Google Playstore. However, after I unsubscribed, the Dropbox app does not provide any options to change the payment method, instead it only showed a message saying that the google account does not have a subscription to my current plan.

After failing to find an option to change the payment method or at least add my credit card or other online payment as my payment method, I gave up and just want to find a way to resubscribe using the Playstore. But even that's not possible, since I found no options for that in the website or the app.

I'm really worried about my files stored in the dropbox account and would really appreciate if Dropbox team can solve this problem immediately, so that I can retain my current plan, resubscribing with the playstore if that's the only option, and, as a result, retain my files too. Thank you.

Hi there, kwh98 welcome to our Community!

Your first step, which was cancelling the existing Dropbox plan from Playstore, was correct.

Since there's no way on your end to automatically switch from an in-app purchase to a direct subscription, cancelling the existing Dropbox plan from Playstore was the way to go about this.

The next thing you'd need to do would be to wait for the plan's renewal date in order for the account to get downgraded. Once you're on the Basic (free) plan, you can go to our plans page and resubscribe from there.

Please be aware that if your account is momentarily downgraded, Dropbox will not delete any of your files. If your Dropbox account becomes over quota all that should happen is that syncing stops.

Would you mind clarifying what your plan page currently shows?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there.
