Can't login to desktop app - invalid code error

Can't login to desktop app - invalid code error

I have a Mac, on Ventura, where I'm installing the Dropbox desktop app. The 2FA with the mobile app will not work (getting the invalid code message when I know the code is correct), meaning I can't get logged in via the app. I'm using an authentication app for the 2FA code.

The 2FA works fine in the browser, so this is specific to the app.

I have actually turned off 2FA as a way to get around this, and it still doesn't work. The browser works as expected (no longer asks me for 2FA), but the desktop app continues to expect a code even though I've turned off 2FA.

Things I've tried to no avail:

- checked the clock matched between my auth app and Dropbox -- it does.

- uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times

- rebooted multiple times

- changed the password

- Reset the 2FA several times (turning it off and on) and ensured in the admin panel that it is not set as "required" for this user.

I can successfully use Dropbox in the browser, but that is definitely more cumbersome than using the app. Can anyone point me in another direction for getting the app to work?

HI there @kario - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

I assume you've also ensured that this is not caused by an antivirus, firewall or VPN/proxy settings as well - right?

Since you've done some troubleshooting already, we might need to look into this issue internally, but first, could you try an advanced reinstall and let us know if this persists?

If you're comfortable with creating a brand new OS profile to test the installation there as well, please go for it.

In any case, please keep us posted!
